Merci France!!

Merci France!!

The GFAN Family would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to France for for both their 20% increased pledge to the Global Fund and for acting as host for the 6th Replenishment Conference.

We also note the commitment of Bill Gates and Emmanuel Macron to raise the missing 100 million euros by December 1, World AIDS Day, to ensure that we reach the minimum target of $US14 billion, as set by the Global Fund and France.

In order to get back on track to achieve the sustainable development goals (SDG) to end AIDS, TB, and malaria by 2030, every dollar counts. Despite the historic levels of pledging in the 6th replenishment, we are still off track to be able to meet these goals.

However, thanks to France’s contribution to the Global Fund, contributions from other countries, and alongside projected domestic resource mobilization targets and stable funding from all other sources, the Global Fund projects that it will be able to:

  • Help avert 234 million infections;
  • Cut the mortality rate from HIV, TB, and malaria in half, saving 16 million lives;
  • Build stronger health systems, which reinforces the trajectory toward universal health coverage, and;
  • Help the world get back on track to end these diseases.
